When a folder is created all files are in it are seamlessly encrypted the only way you can view it is if you have access to the same folder then the encryption key is entered automatically. you the user does nothing this is a extra security feature in case of an outside attack.
in case of a error in the computer and it where to lose the key it has its own data recovery system and will regain assess to the file shortly u will never lose the keys in case of a system crash.

How to Encrypt a Folder

in Explore right click the folder and click properties in the properties dialog on the general tab click advanced click encrypt contents to secure data and hit ok now all files in the folder are encrypted

How To Decrypt a Folder

uncheck The Box That Says Encrypt Data, Now the only reason you would need to do this is if someone else needed access to the file like over a network.
